New this year is the option to climb Mont Mégantic, 1,102 m (3,615 ft), the highes paved hill climb in Quebec  which has gained legendary status over the years as a stage of the renowned UCI-level Tour de Beauce stage race that celebrated its 30th anniversary last year.

Participants can choose the route that best suits them with three options available: 57km, 90km and 110km. The first route consists of the famous tour of Lac Mégantic where participants will cross beautiful valleys, all the while having impressive views of the lake.

Those choosing the 90 km route, will ride all of the 57km route while adding a loop through the municipalities of St-Augustin-de-Woburn, Notre-Dame-des-Bois and Val-Racine while admiring stunning views of Mont Mégantic.

Those who choose the 110 km route will complete the 90km route and also climb Mont Mégantic, then ride back to the initial route – for safety reasons, timing will stop during the descent.

For this Granfondo, the starting point will be at the Mégantic Sports Centre. “We invite all cyclists to register; substantial discounts are offered until August 21,” notes Denis Bolduc of Événements Sportifs Région de Lac-Mégantic.

Here is a chance to finish the season in style, take in breathtaking scenery, choose to be timed or not, while receiving a generous box lunch, a T-shirt and several surprises. Participants will ride in a secure environment and participate in an exciting event.
