September 07, 2018 (Quebec City, QC) – Michael Matthews (Aus) Team Sunweb finally took home the win he was looking for this season as he captured the top run on the final podium at the 9th annual Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, 201.6 km. Greg Van Avermaet (Bel) BMC Racing Team was second followed by Jasper Stuyven (Bel) Trek-Segafredo in third.
Then the fireworks began setting up the final sprint with Matthews in charge at the finish. “I’m so happy to win here after coming second and third previously. It was a tough start to this season and I’ve only raised my arms in victory once before so it’s nice to see that I can get there again,” said Matthews at the finish. “Simon Gerrans, who won both races here, is a hero of mine so we’ll see if I can match his amazing accomplishment.”
