June 22, 2016 (Mono, ON) – Gran Fondo Toronto (GFTO) is coming soon and will held on Sunday, August 7. GFTO is a premier, elite road cycling event featuring a Gran Fondo-style opportunity to ride or race your bike to the Victory Celebration hosted at Hockley Valley Resort.  GFTO will take you through the scenic valleys of South Central Ontario, throughout Durham County, Belfountain, Forks of the Credit and Hockley Valley Region.

All Course participants are Officially Timed by SPORTSTATS. GFTO promises to be an adventure, filled with fun and good cheer with a great mix of challenges, fast and recovery sections on course resulting in an Adventure of a Lifetime.

We endeavor to be Ontario’s premier, elite cycling event featuring courses reminiscent of cycling, Gran Fondo’s, and race tours throughout Europe, inspired by the well-known events Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and our famous switchback  reminiscent of Alp D’Huez marker #13. Our handcrafted segments throughout the course routes will include:

– VERSO LA GLORIA…  (Towards the Glory)
– LUNGO IL PERCORSO…  (Along the Path)
– BATTGLIA DEI LEONI…  (Battle Of the Lions)
– OCHIO DI TIGRE…  (Eye of the Tiger)
– ANDIAMO…  (Let’s Go!)
– RITMO FORTE…  (Strong Pace)

GFTO’s inaugural event is being hosted at our boutique partner resort, Hockley Valley Resort featuring authentic, gourmet Italian Cuisine, winery and a training vineyard.

Each cyclist will have the option to choose their ride course. There are four ride options:

– GFTO ESPRESSO ……30 KM
– GFTO LUNGO………… 60 KM
– GFTO CLASSICO…….. 79 KM
– GFTO GRANGE………157 KM

Gran Fondo Toronto (GFTO) cycling event will provide the largest monetary purse prize in Ontario for women and men cyclists and it’s in support of the SickKids Foundation.
