June 17, 2003 (Lèvis, PQ) – An heroic breakaway consisting of five riders, Tom Swindlehurst (Navigators), Jeff Hansen (Atlas Cold/Italpasta), Cam Evans (Canada), Trent Wilson (Flanders) and Jindrich Vanna (ZVVZ), was caught in the final 20k, after having a maximum of five minutes over the pack. The break began in the first seven kms. of the race. On the final finishing circuits in Lèvis, Swindlehurst launched from the doomed break just as the pack, led by 7-up and Gord Fraser's Healthnet squad, charged to the finish. Swindlehurst was caught on the final circuit, which set up the Healthnet squad's ace sprinter: Gord Fraser. However, at the finish it was Russian Oleg Grishkine (Navigators) in front of Charles Dionne (National Team).Stage 2 – Lèvis / Lèvis – 169 km
