GP de Beauce Stage 1

June 15, 2004 – Today’s circuit race was expected to be tough, but that didn’t stop the outcome from being a bunch sprint, won handily by Colavita Bolla’s Ivan Dominguez. Canada’s Charles Dionne was second followed by Navigators’ Mark Walters. There is a lot at stake for the Canadians who have made the Olympic selection; apart from Michael Barry, who is a shoe-in because of his high UCI ranking, the battle is on to make an impression in Quebec. Because of this, the Canadian national team dynamics should be interesting for the casual observer. Who will work for whom? Or will anyone? The race is on…
