Riders like Rein Taaramae (Est) Cofidis, Le Credit En Ligne, could escape from the peloton on the Camilien Houde climb with a grade up to 13% – covered 17 times. Of course Peter Sagan (Svk) Liguigas-Cannondale can make good as well, among other strong punchers like Thomas Voeckler (Fra) Europcar, or Rui Alberto Faria da Costa (Por) Movistar Team. All of these riders have proved they are in shape for today’s race.

Many fans have been waiting for Ryder Hesjedal (Can) Garmin-Sharp to return to the GP Cycliste Quebec City and Montreal, after his victorious three weeks in Italia this summer. These kinds of races are not Hesjedal’s forte , where sprinters battle with one-day classic specialists. But if Hesjedal is on form, he can do almost anything he wants in a race. After all, he finished third at the 2010 edition in Montreal.
Fellow Canuck, François Parisien, from SpiderTech p/b C10 finished in 10th place only two days ago. Parisien is coming on strong in the latter part of this season and was more than happy to be in the top 10. Another top Canadian rider, Michael Barry (Team Sky) announced that he’ll retire at the end of this season, so this is fans last chance to see Barry in Montreal. But many young wolves are ready to rise to the occasion for Canada and you can count on David Veilleux (Europcar), Guillaume Boivin (SpiderTech p/b C10), Christian Meier (Orica-GreenEdge) and others to battle hard for a top 10 placing.
