May 16, 2006 – On Friday May 12, at the age of 78, Gord Reid passed away. Reid was the owner of Gord’s Ski and Sports store, probably the first good bike shop in Winnipeg and a driving force in the Winnipeg cycling community for many years. He brought in track bikes when the original velodrome was built for the 1967 Commonwealth Games and supported local riders in many ways. Two of his sons sons, Eric and Jeff, were both great track riders and were on the national team during the early 1980’s .
