Google Encourages Employees to Bike to Work

February 24, 2007 (Santa Clara County, California) – Google, the internet search engine company giant, is encouraging its employees to ride bikes or walk to work, reports La Presse of Montreal. Employees who do this can then specify to Google which charitable organizations they want to support. “This option is particularly popular at our European offices where it’s very easy to live near one’s workplace,” said Robyn Beavers, Google’s Corporate Environmental Programs Manager.

The company also provides subsidies for employees who buy fuel-efficient hybrid (electric-gasoline) automobiles.
