Giro D’Italia Stage 3
May 10, 2003 – It has been a year since Stefano Garzelli (Vini Caldirola-SO.DI) won Stage 2 of the 2002 Giro and took the pink jersey. A few days later, Garzelli was positive for probenecid on the stage and served a year-long suspension. Today the Italian won the stage, after just finishing his sentence. Alessandro Petacchi (Fassa Bortolo) rode well to keep his pink jersey, with Garzelli now in second.
