May 21, 2013 (Ivrea, Italy) – Benat Intxausti Elorriaga (Esp) delivered Movistar Team’s second consecutive victory winning the final sprint on Stage 16 from Valloire to Ivrea, 238km, over Tanel Kangert (Est) Astana Pro Team in second with Przemyslaw Niemiec (Pol) Lampre-Merida in third. The three jumped clear with 2km to go and Niemiec went too early with Kangert on his wheel as Intxausti powered by both for the win. Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Astana Pro Team finished in the pack and retains his stronghold on the maglia rosa.
