Giro D\’Italia – Stage 10

May 19, 2004 – Alessandro Pettachi was back in business after the Giro’s
rest day (Tues, May 18) scooping his fifth win at the 2004 Giro. Blazing
from the front of a perfect Fasso Bortolo train, Pettachi reached 67.1 kph
as he beat home Zanotti and Paris Roubaix winner Magnus Bachstedt.
Finishing in the town of Ascoli Picano this 146km stage witnessed some hot
weather that had the bunch less than animated.

Giro D’Italia Stage 10

May 20, 2003 – An epic day today at the Tour of Italy, with Stage 10 being won by the gritty Norwegian Kurt-Asle Arvesen (fakta-Pata Chips), and a daring Gilberto Simoni (Team Saeco) taking the pink jersey by just two seconds over Stefano Garzelli (Vini Caldirola-SO.DI). Simoni's attacked hard with 40km to go, blowing the Giro wide open as his Saeco team worked over Garzelli and his Vini Caldirola squad to gain control of the Giro. Simoni finished 3rd took a eight second bonus and 25-second gap on Garzelli.
