May 11, 2007 – The teams were presented today for the 90th Giro d’Italia that begins tomorrow with the 24 km TTT on the island of Sardegna. The pro peloton will cover 3,486.2 kms through 21 stages with two rest days. With 2006 winner Ivan Basso out of the race there are several riders vying for the Maglia Rosa this year such as Danilo Di Luca (Liquigas) and Damiano Cunego (Lampre). Canada’s Michael Barry (T-Mobile) will be testing his legs as he helps his team to capture as many stage wins as they can in the first of the Grand Tours this season.
