July 18, 2008 (Burnaby, BC) – Andrew Pinfold (Can) Symmetrics Cycling and Kelly Benjamin (USA) Cheerwine Pro Cycling won yesterday’s Giro di Burnaby on a 1.85km course – the men completed 30 laps and the women 20 laps. The women’s finish was somewhat of a fiasco as apparently Gina Grain (Can) Webcor Builders Cycling Team was declared the winner – awards were given and interviews done. But when officials viewed the finish photo tape it was revealed that Benjamin had clearly won by half a wheel and the podium ceremony had to be redone.
