May 6, 2006 – Here’s some more good news about Giro coverage. Here’s a letter concerning additional coverage of the Giro d’Italia, which begins today:

Dear Pedal,

Thanks for your info about il Giro on Canal Evasion.

The Giro is also available on RAI International, the Italian network which is the equivalent of CBC International. They will be carrying a daily program at differing times, depending on other programming and the stage. I live in Toronto and was able to subscribe through Rogers for $2.45 a month, while Canal Evasion was only available as part of a package that is $4.99 a month. I now have access to both channels.

Disappointing that the OLN/Cycling.tv online coverage is only available in the US. I have a subscription to their premium channel but the OLN/Giro channel is only available in US. I contacted them and was told that unless I could hide my IP address it would not work in Canada. Evidently they had discussions with OLN but must have realized the rights in Canada were taken by Canal Evasion.
