October 12, 2006 (Frankfurt, Germany)– According to DPA, a German Press Agency, within the next few weeks all German athletes who receive financial support from the national sports foundation (DSH) must issue a statement, a “Sports Foundation Oath”, in which they renounce doping,
The foundation funds about 3,800 athletes from 44 federations and the oath covers other areas of performance including fair play.
According to the report Hans Wilhelm Gaeb, the DSH board chairman, stated that athletes who are caught cheating must pay back any monies received from the DSH and will also be denied any further funding, and if necessary, be taken to court.
