March 30, 2014 (Wevelgem, Belgium) – John Degenkolb (Ger) Team Giant-Shimano took a big victory today at the 76th running of the Belgium WorldTour classic, Gent-Wevelgem, from Deinze to Wevelgem, 233km, besting Arnaud Demare (Fra) FDJ.fr at the line with Peter Sagan (Svk) Cannondale settling for 3rd.

The finish was marred by two crashes within the final 500m that took down many riders including several top contenders like André Greipel (Ger) Lotto-Belisol.
