July 22, 2004 – Here are the results of the Tour de Gastown criterium. Quark’s Manon Jutras soloed to the win, and Jelly Belly’s Jonas Carney took a sprint that saw one wheel width separating the top-three. BC Superweek – Gastown Criterium The men’s race tonight was run in perfect weather – 50 laps making up 60 km. he pace rarey dropped below 50km/h. Around halfway a break established itself containing many of the favorites and dangled half a lap ahead for the rest of the race. Unfortunately last year’s winner Gord Fraser missed out. With one lap to go Svein Tuft slipped away from the break and looked to be headed for a sure win — but it was not to be as he was caught around the last corner. Jonas Carney repeated the win he had here as a 19-year-old and crossed the line impressively in front of Tyler Farrar and 2000 Olympic champion Marty Nothstein.
