June 1, 2004 – Cedric Gracia took a victory from the world’s best freeriders
in the high class competition of the first ever Adidas Slopestyle in
Saalbach Hinterglemm, Austria.
Twenty-eight riders of nine different nationalities took part in the
qualifying and twenty riders went through to the final. The difficult course
required skills from all disciplines: freeride, downhill, and dirt jumping.
As the last rider to start in the final, Garcia started with the giant eight
metre high drop and then jumped the 15-metre gap jump one-handed and ended
with a suicide (both hands stretched to the back). From his seamless
performance Garcia proved himself the best all-rounder by winning an
incredible 45.7 of the possible 50 points for his run.
