G.P. de Brossard – Gendron Takes Women’s Race, Controversy Erupts as Ammerlaan Scores

by pedalmag.com

May 06, 2012 (Brossard, QC) – Controversy erupted in the 75-min Senior Men’s 1-2 race on Sunday at the 26th G.P. de Brossard presented by Brossard Courrier du Sud, round four of the new 9-stage Tour de Montérégie. Nicolas Ammerlaan (Médique p/b Silber) took the win over Antoine Duchesne (Garneau-Québécor-Norton Rose) as the two escaped from the peloton.

But Ammerlaan refused to work during the break passing Duchesne near the finish for the win. Apparently Duchesne was not pleased and we understand tempers flared at the finish.

SpiderTech p/b C10’s Hugo Houle was third on the podium racing with his teammate Francois Parisien who was 37th with the same time as Houle.

Karlee Gendron of the new Specialized-Mazda-SCG team won the Senior Women’s 60-min race over Catherine Couture (McGill Racing Team) in second with veteran Karol-Ann Canuel (VienneFuturoscope) in third.
