by John Symon
October 24, 2012 – François Parisien, who rode with SpiderTech p/b C10 men’s road team in 2012, has now signed with a team based in the Netherlands, Argos Shimano, for the 2013 season as confirmed by email this morning.

“I’m really happy to have been able to work with Steve and SpiderTech,” Parisien told Pedal. “It has been an important part in my career. I will miss the family we had. With Argos-Shimano I will be facing new challenges and it is a big motivation for me.”

Parisien, 30, was the Canadian RR champ in 2005. He also won the 2012 Tour of Elk Grove. Parisien rode with US teams TIAA CRIF 2006 and Slipstream in 2007. In 2008 he began with Symmetrics before signing with Steve Bauer’s Team RACE. That team became known as Planet Energy and eventually SpiderTech p/b C10. As reported, SpiderTech announced on October 12 that it was suspending its 2013 season and releasing its roster.

Argos Shimano (UCI team code: ARG) is a continental team that has received wildcat invitations to the Tour de France in 2009 and 2012 according to Wikipedia. The current roster includes 25 riders, mainly from northern Europe (Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Sweden) but also with one rider each from China and Japan. The team recorded many stage victories across Europe and Oman as well as a first place at the Japanese road race national championships.

Pedal wishes Parisien the best of luck with his new team.
