November 23, 2006 — The Fédération Québécoise des Sports Cyclistes (FQSC) has announced its “En Tandem vers l’Excellence” program for athletes and sponsors for 2007. The program links promising new talent with established top cyclists who serve as sponsors. Based on results during the 2006 season, 17 young athletes have been selected for every category from pee wee to cadet for road biking and mountain biking (cross country), for both genders. There is also a male cadet category in downhill. In track racing, a male and female category is selected for minime and for cadet. The FQSC’s sporting assistant and webmaster, Sylvain Richard, told Pedal that the 2007-2008 list will include BMX cycling.
