May 12, 2003 – The Four Days of Dunkirk finished yesterday, after six days of racing (this classic race used to be only four days, years ago) as Jean Delatour's sprinter, Jean-Patrick Nazon, sprinted to win the final stage. Earlier, the TT was won by Credit Agricole's Christophe Moreau, who soldified his overall lead. Canada's Michael Barry had a tough ride in the TT, finishing 40th, but only lost one place, retaining his 14th overall, a good result for a tough week of riding.
Barry's ride in the TT was tough for a few reasons, “The race finished OK although I crashed in the TT,” Barry said, “I was on a straight bit of road, slighty wet, and went down like I was on a sheet of ice. It happened so fast. So, I lost 13th and finished 14th which is no biggie really.” Interestingly, Barry's teammate Dave Zabriskie crashed on the same patch, in the same manner. ” We now have matching scrapes and were aching in the same ways as we flew home together.” Barry said, “Dave Z still rocked the TT depsite the crash and finished well. He would have been second without the crash.”
Barry said the the afternoon final stage was controlled and uneventful, ending in a field sprint. With Barry finishing 14th, Zabriskie finishing fifth and Aussie Matt White finishing 11th, USPS won the Overall Team G.C.
