June 19, 2019 (Saint-Georges, QC – June 19, 2019) The Tour de Beauce 2019 added one more cyclist to the start list this morning, a last-minute addition. Quebec City cyclist Bruno Langlois, a veteran of the Tour de Beauce, has signed a last-minute deal with the Brunei Continental Cycling Team. This team, which had only three participants traveling to Canada, welcomes the reinforcement provided by the 2016 Canadian Road Champion.

Langlois took to the start this morning for his 21st Tour de Beauce.

“It felt a little weird not to do the Tour de Beauce this year,” said Langlois. “I did not prepare myself at all for the race, both physically or logistically. I will take it from day to day. I’m going to try my best to help a team that needs it.”

As for his expected performance on the roads of Beauce, Langlois is realistic. “I do not expect to perform at my best, but it will do me good morally. I am about 75% of my optimal form and five pounds overweight. We will go step by step. At the same time, it gives me a good training opportunity for the Canadian Championships, to which I will participate.”

Langlois also has other intentions for his participation in the Tour de Beauce. The 40-year-old cyclist owns a cycling coaching business in Quebec City, Velo Cartel, with young cyclists in the peloton as his trainees. “I have athletes that I train who participates, so I want to help them a little, guide them, show them the way, coach them.”

The Tour de Beauce is of particular importance for Langlois, who has not taken part in a road race since the 2018 Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, a WorldTour event. “For me, the Tour de Beauce a bit like my Tour de France. When I was young, it was THE big race. I want to share this passion that I have for the Tour de Beauce.”

The Tour de Beauce ends Sunday, June 23 after six cycling races over five days totaling a distance of 634.5km.
