June 7, 2006 – At the Forest City Velodrome in London on Saturday night spectators were treated to some great cycling duels in the sprint tournaments as well as exciting Madison events.

Newcomer to the velodrome, Evanie Blodin of Ottawa, won her 10 lap scratch race and finished a close second in the ladies sprint series which was won by Hamilton rider Hayley Roberts.

All three mens sprint series took 3 heats to determine the best of three winner. Winners were Chris Vlemmix of London, Brian Kelly of London, and Vancouverite Keith Thorarison. Thorarison had the spectators at the edge of their seats in his shoulder to shoulder battles with Joe Veloce of St. Catharines in all 3 heats.

The feature madison team relay race included sprints as well as motor paced keiren races. Winners were the team of Garnett Abbey and Mike Renneboog. Final standings were:

1. Abbey & Renneboog 44 points
2. DeJong & Crawford 32 points
3. Good & Veloce 28 points
4. Thorarison & Falkenstein 1 lap down and 29 points
