Ford Motor Company Signs With Basis

June 30, 2004 – Ford Motor Company is pleased to announce its support for
Basis Cycling Program. Ford’s sponsorship begins immediately, with an eye
towards becoming a co-title sponsor in 2005.
“We’re very happy to have Nicole Freedman and the entire Basis squad join
the family of Ford cycling
programs. In their dedication to the sport they represent the strengths of
the Ford brand” said Jack Palazzolo, Director of Regional Marketing. “They
are determined and seasoned pros who put everything into their racing, yet
they still make the time to give back to the cycling community, and the
sport in general, by being mentors and teachers to up and coming female
cyclists. Their ‘go anywhere do anything’ attitude is what defines our
brand.”

After lengthy negotiations between Quick Release, manager of Ford Cycling
programs, and astute team manager, Nicole Freedman, which centered around
the latest state-of-the-art Ford hybrid engine technology, and the interior
upholstery options to match Nicole’s fuzzy pink dice, the sponsorship was
finalized.

“I lived in my Ford Econoline for four years in preparation for the 2000
Olympics. The seating in the 2005 Escape is much more economical and
comfortable.” says Freedman who was last seen soliciting friends with flat
driveways.

Ford currently sponsors a women’s professional mountain bike team, Ford
Cycling, one of the top teams is the US, as well as regional programs in
Michigan and Florida.
