Floyd Landis Prepares to Contest Sanctions

September 27, 2006 – As reported by Associated Press, Floyd Landis, winner of the 2006 Tour de France, is preparing to contest any possible sanctions from the US Anti-Doping Association (USADA) following his positive doping test for testosterone during the race. The news came in the form of a press release yesterday by Landis’s spokesman, Michael Henson.

The US Anti-Doping Review Board (ADRB) recommended that the case against Landis move forward following the positive testosterone test. Landis’s lawyer is expected to contest any possible sanctions before the American Arbitration Association (AAA).

The same press release indicates that Landis will undergo hip surgery on September 27, but hopes to recommence his training in early 2007 with a view towards defending his title at the Tour de France.
