April 08, 2016 (Edmonton, AB) – FISE (Festival International des Sports Extrêmes) is pleased to announce the launch of the Edmonton stop of the World Series in 2016, September 16-18, featuring the world’s best athletes from BMX, mountain bike and skateboard.
Being held at Hawrelak Park, this is the first time that FISE is coming to Canada/North America and Edmonton is the exclusive Canadian city for 2016-2018. The International competition is open to professional and amateur riders in these 4 disciplines:
– BMX Freestyle – this event is part of the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup (new for 2016)
– BMX Flat
– Mountain Bike Slopestyle
– Skateboard Street
Created in 1997 in Montpellier, France, FISE has grown to become the third largest event gathering after the Tour de France and the Vendée Globe. The series expanded nationally in 2007 to include the FISE Xperience Series, and internationally in 2014 with the FISE World Series. Having hosted 240+ events around the world, previous host cities include Montpellier, France; Chengdu, China & Langkawi, Malaysia. The events, which feature a family-friendly festival atmosphere including vendors, beer gardens etc., are free to spectators.
