Felice Gimondi Turns 61 Today

September 29, 2003 – Felice Gimondi, the timeless champion from Bergamo, Italy Was born on this day in 1942 in Sedrina. Gimondi successfully bound his name to 'Bianchi', a testimony to the company, as well as taking in charge of their sports sector at the end of an outstanding career that terminated in 1978 after scoring 136 wins – including such notable victories at the 1965 Tour de France, 1966 Paris-Roubaix and Paris-Bruxelles, 1967-1969-1976 Giro d'Italia, 1968 Vuelta of Spain, 1973 World Championships, 1966-1973 Tour of Lombardy, 1974Milan-Sanremo.

Gimondi is actively engaged in all sport events sponsored by Bianchi, with whom he has been cooperating for 41 years. He is also one of the pioneers of mountain biking in Italy, and the founder of the professional off-road “Motorex-Bianchi” team which, in the 2002-2003 season, confirmed itself as one of the most outstanding and successful teams at the international level by winning the European Marathon with the French biker Thomas Dietsch, and the MTB World Cup with the French champion Julien Absalon.
