May 18, 2006 – The Forest City Velodrome at the Gardens, in London Ontario is pleased to offer 2 Learn to Ride Camps for Ontario Youth ages 12 – 17. These camps are open to Girls and Boys. No riding experience is necessary. The sessions will be offered on Saturday June 3rd.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation has made this Program available for the youth of Ontario.
The Forest City Velodrome is a 138m wooden indoor facility, which has been the Home of Track riding and racing in Ontario for the past 13 months.
The intent of the Camp is to evaluate youth for our Velo-Kids Program which is a feeder system to the Ontario Cycling Association’s High Performance Programs. The Kids are given a Bicycle to use for the session. Professional instruction will be given on the fundamentals of how to ride the Velodrome and is the first step to being able to better control a Bicycle safely.
There will be 2 sessions 9am -11:30am & 11:30am – 2pm. There is a limit of 16 Youths in each session. We recommend that you register early as the sessions will fill up quickly.
The Camp fee is $25.00 which includes everything the riders will require to complete the session. Please bring helmets,gloves, shorts & running shoes. If you have your own pedal systems you are encouraged to bring them with your pedals.
Ideal candidates for the Camp include: Hockey players, runners, Speed skaters, Soccer, Skiers, If your child is an up and coming athelete, they will not be disappointed.
