FCV News — Winter Season Kicks Off

November 3, 2006 – The winter season has kicked off at the Forest City Velodrome in London Ontario. October is behind us now and so is our 4th 6-Day race in the last 13 months. The skill developement of every rider is much higher than we had projected. Look for big things by our Cadets and Juniors in 2007. The Velodorme is on a recruiting drive at local London high schools to build our Velo-Kids & junior program into the winter.

Spectators have to make an effort to attend the races to see how these young riders continue to improve. Racing continues for the next three weekends, many sprint and endurance events on the card beginning at 7pm on Saturdays. Admission is $10.00

Membership at the FCV has reached 170 as of this morning and we are confident that we will reach 200 registered riders before Christmas. With 80% being recreational riders we will be re-evaluating all sessions at the end of November. Look for women’s only rec sessions on Sunday afternoons, and additional afternoon sessions to give our members more time to get fit.

Roller Derby makes it’s return to London as a group of roller skaters will be using the infield for training for their season which begins in the spring.

Mark your calendars….. Canadian / American / Quebec (CanAmQue) Challenge Race #2 weekend of December 2nd & 3rd. The FCV welcomes all racers.

Training programs for the winter months for youth wanting to maintain fitness over the winter is found at www.ForestCityVelodrome.ca on our home page…. These programs are set up by our favourite sprinter Gord Singleton.
