September 21, 2009 (Montreal, QC) – The 11th annual ExpoCycle, Canada’s bicycle trade show, took place Sept. 12-14 in Montreal at Place Bonaventure with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring UCI President Pat McQuaid. Here’s a snapshot look at some of the hot 2011 products that were on display and coming to a bike shop near you soon.

Look 695 IPack
Cycles Lambert is the distributor for Look in Canada and new for 2011 is Look’s new flagship frame, the 695 IPack. Precision is optimized due to the integration of the stem, headset, fork and crank. The 695 Ipack utilizes Look’s CFD concept (Continuous Fiber Design) to optimize resistance and effort. The new HSC 7 fork, Head Fit 3 headset, the C-stem and the E-Post are also integrated into the frame, guaranteeing its rigidity, light weight and stability.

Specialized S-Works Road Shoe
Specialized’s lightest, stiffest body geometry shoe features a Fact 12.0 carbon sole to optimize stiffness and weight in their thinnest outsole. Two independent Boa dials allow the user to fine tune the fit in different areas of the shoe.

Scott Scale 899
Scott Sports had 2009 MTB World’s champ Nino Shurter’s Scale 899 World Cup rig on display at their booth. Featuring a full XX drivetrain, Ritchey carbon rims wrapped in Dugaust tubulars, there’s little doubt that this bike was meant to go fast. The 899 refers to the maximum allowable weight of the frame. Actual frame weight is stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket shell.

Electra Mulholland
Electra showed up to ExpoCycle with their always stylish line up of Cruisers, Townie bikes and European-inspired city bikes. The new Mulholland really caught our eye.

Niterider MiNewt.350
The 2011 MiNewt.350 is the first “compact” LED lighting system to utilize a high- powered, multichip LED that produces 350 lumens – a 75% increase over last year’s MiNewt! With a headlamp weighing in at a lightweight 82g, the MiNewt.350 offers an out-of-this-world power-to-weight ratio.

Felt F3
The new Felt F3 features Felt’s lightweight UHC carbon frame wrapped in SRAM Red Components rolling on S30 wheels. Weighing in at 14.85 pounds the F3 is both light on weight and high on performance.

Specialized Demo 8
As ridden by members of the Specialized-Monster Energy team, the Demo 8 is a race-ready downhill machine. Featuring lots of hydro-formed tubing, a Fox DHX RC4 rear shock, a RockShox Boxxer World Cup Fork, and Avid XO Code brakes; you would be hard pressed to think of a better bike for downhill straight out of the box.

Garneau TT Bike
Garneau was on hand with an expanded presence. The Garneau bike line up has visibly grown and encompasses all different disciplines. The Gennix T1 is Garneau’s new Time Trial/ Triathalon bike which was engineered to be fast in a wide range of condition while still complying with the UCI rules.

BMC Impec
Outdoor Gear Canada is the new distributor of BMC in Canada and they had quite a display at ExpoCycle. BMC’s new flagship ride is the Impec, which was unveiled at this year’s Tour de France. The Impec is manufactured in BMC’s new factory and is 100% machine made; an industry first. The tubes are woven on site to allowing BMC to fine tune both strength and comfort. While not as light as their Team machine, the ride quality is said to be top notch.

Cannondale CAAD 10
New for this year is the CAAD 10 lightweight road frame at 1,150 grams featuring asymmetric chain stays, a BB30 bottom bracket and SAVE technology. Built up as pictured with 105, the CAAD 10 makes a light, reliable and great handling road bike for any level rider.

ENVY Chainrings
Orange Sport Supply, the Canadian distributor of Chris King, Paul, Wipperman, North Shore Billet etc, also featured Envy chain rings, a great replacement chain ring that is available in different sizes and styles for any application you can think of. Did your new cross bike come with a 50-34t compact crank and you’re looking for more appropriate gearing? 46-38 perhaps? Envy has a chainring for you.

Argon Electron Track Bike
Argon 18 was on hand with a new addition to their lineup for 2011. The Electron Pro was developed for Stephane Cossette and Martin Gilbert, two of Canada’s premier track riders who race for the Argon 18 sponsored SpiderTech squad. The Electron Pro was built in the same mold as the E-114 and as such aerodynamics are top notch while still remaining UCI-legal.

Octto Components
Octto Components is the brainchild of Dave Anthony, a mainstay in the Toronto cycling industry for years and one of the original employees at Cervelo. Octto offers a complete line up of bars, stems, seat posts and wheels as well as both grips and bar tape. A suggestion would be to try out the bar tape first, its extra long, extra stretchy, comes in a multitude of colours and once you use it, you’ll never go back.
