November 1, 2006 (Friedrichshafen, Germany) – Messe Friedrichshafen, organizers of Eurobike, have announced that they will stage a new bicycle trade show in Portland, Oregon in September 2007 that will go head-to-head against the well-established Interbike, which is held annually in Las Vegas.
Erich Reiss, the US representative for Messe Friedrichshafen who lives part-time in Hood River, Oregon and is the driving force behind the new show, said that discontent with the current bike trade show in U.S. sparked the initiative for the new show. Portland was selected it’s a major U.S. city with great bicycle facilities.
The new show will be organized using the same guidelines that made Eurobike a very successful trade bike show in Europe. No official dates have been set.
