December 14, 2012 (Toronto, ON) – After a very successful year in 2012, Peter and Lori Kofman, team members and sponsors are excited to continue their race efforts as a means to raise funds for cancer programs in 2013.
Erace Cancer Cycling Team was established in 2012 after the death of Peter’s father to cancer with the purpose to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The Erace Cancer team enjoyed considerable success in 2012. Not only did team members race well, winning races and Provincial titles, the team was able to raise $45,000 for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
“A huge thank you to Peter Kofman and his team from Erace Cancer. The proceeds from this cycling season will support breakthrough cancer research and Personalized Cancer Medicine at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Events like this empower the researchers to help make the discoveries and advancements in cancer treatment therapies possible. With this support, The Princess Margaret can continue to deliver the most advanced care and achieve its vision to Conquer Cancer – In Our Lifetime.” Steve Merker, Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation
In 2013, the team will strive to continue its incredible racing success and further its fundraising activities with the goal to raise $60,000 for programs that support children with cancer in partnership with Camp Oochigeas (www.campooch.org).
“We are thrilled to have the Erace Cancer Cycling Team riding for Ooch in 2013. Heading into our 30th year, Erace Cancer will be helping Camp Ooch reach more kids living with cancer than ever before.” Alex Robertson, Camp Ooch
Camp Oochigeas or “Ooch” is a privately funded, volunteer based organization that provides kids affected by childhood cancer with a unique opportunity for growth through challenging, fun, enriching, and magical experiences.
