release by Ekoï.com/Gaspesien Pro Cycling Team

May 29, 2012 (Kemptville, ON) – The eQuinelle Grand Prix race was part of the Dandelion Festival held on Saturday, it was a 90-minute, and very technical downtown Crit. There were around 60 riders at the start of the race competing for a $5,000 purse.

The race was very fast and the guys were nervous. Many crashes happened during the race and lot of riders did not finish because it was too technical. Jean-Samuel Deshaies finished in fourth place. “I missed the sprint because I had to slow down in the third corner as the guy in front of me crashed,” said Deshaies.

On Sunday, there was a 170-km road race. After only one of the 10 laps, a break of seven riders escaped and stayed away until there was 3km to go! Antoine Matteau and Jordan Brochu worked hard in the break as the riders from the other teams waited for the final sprint. Jean-Samuel Deshaies did well again with a third-place finish. ‘

‘Another crash slowed down my teammate’s work to bring me to the finish line. I had to accelerate twice in the final meters because of the crash and lost power to take the win,” said Jean-Samuel.

Next race… Philly!
