November 17, 2008 (Toronto, ON) – At D’Ornellas Bike Shop’s 20th Anniversary Open House on Saturday, Nov. 15 a jubilant crowd gathered despite the rain outside to reminisce and celebrate the shop’s vibrant history and spend time with cycling legend and Canada’s most acclaimed cyclist, Steve Bauer.

While food and drinks flowed there were great savings to be had as well as the D’Ornellas Open House welcomed Argon 18 bikes, also sponsors of Bauer’s Team RACE Pro which recently announced it’s 2009 roster. Bauer spoke about exciting news to come for the team including more sponsors as he quipped about his early racing days with D’Ornellas. Eon recalled the time he and a group of riders called on Bauer to grab a post-race meal but the multi-time Canadian champion and Tour de France yellow jersey wearer was too busy doing sit-ups as he prepared for the next day’s competition.

Amidst friends and staff D’Ornellas was presented with a 20th Anniversary cake along with champagne as he thanked the store’s many supporters over the years, his suppliers, and loyal crew of Bob Jensen (mechanic of 20 years), Neil Gabbott (store manager), Tony Gonscalves, Malcolm Maclellan, David Delgado, and Simon Szymczak. Following a toast the open house celebrations continued until closing.
