Disc Brakes or Cantis? That Is The Question

September 16, 2006 – UCI Rules May effect YOU at the next Cross Race!

Canti’s only for the top categories.

With the exception of those categories that permit the use of mountain bikes (mainly restricted to beginner categories), riders are reminded that use of disc brake-equipped cross bikes are prohibited for Cyclocross competition, as stated under UCI Regulations (Chapter 1: 1.3.025). Riders in categories requiring Cyclocross bikes (Men A) are cautioned that they will not be permitted to start should it be noticed that their bike is equipped with disc brakes.

Note: This policy applies only for the Giant Cross Cup Series; other jurisdictions or levels of sanction may have different policies (example: National Championships, USA Cycling).

Note that the National Cyclocross Championships will follow UCI rules and regulations.
