October 12, 2007 – Quebec pro rider Charles Dionne is moving from Colavita/Sutter Home to Successful Living for the 2008 season. The 2007 Canadian criterium champ has signed a contract with Successful Living, which has ambitions of becoming the largest American cycling team.

“Our sponsor (Successful Living) recently signed a three-year agreement. Their objective is to become the biggest US cycling team. They came looking for me because they wanted strong presence at the three biggest US tours, namely the Tour of California, the Tour de Georgia and the Tour of Missouri,” said Dionne.

“I will have a leader’s position on the team,” he added. “I won’t necessarily be the leader for all races, but I’ll decide, in some manner, on team strategies. This will put more pressure on me but I like challenges. I was doing this perhaps 75% of the time this year and have already done it with Webcor.”

The 28-year-old cyclist is looking forward to racing next year in North America. In 2006 Dionne rode with the Spanish team, Saunier Duval-Prodir. “I didn’t want to return to Europe because of all the (doping) scandals there this summer,” he commented.

Dionne is leaving Colavita/Sutter Home after only one season there. “There were many changes there, among them with management. It’s not the same owners and this had a big influence on my decision.”

Dionne is familiar with one of the co-founders of his new team, Ryan Yee. “He’s been one of my training partners for many years and is also a friend which tipped the balance.” As a coach, Yee will be an important ally for Dionne on the new team.

“I am really motivated for next year, especially because of the Olympics,” concluded Dionne. He believes that he had a good season in 2007, coming off his leg surgery on October 27, 2006.

Previously Dionne was with Webcor in 2004 and 2005 before moving to Saunier Duval-Prodir in 2006. He beat Lance Armstrong at the San Francisco GP in 2002.
