June 23, 2007 (Dieppe, New Brunswick) – Atlantic Canada’s first official BMX track is almost ready to go. We are in the final phase of testing the track, and with weather’s cooperation, we should be able to start our activities next week. Here are the initial details:

The Dieppe BMX track will have its open times for everyone. Here’s the initial schedule:
– Monday (6 – 7 pm): BMX Wheelies
– Monday (7 – 9 pm): BMX 101 and skills learning
– Tuesday (AM): track maintenance
– Wednesday (9 – noon): member time
– Thursday (2 to 4 pm): member time
– Friday (9 – noon): member time
– Friday (7 to 9 pm): member (adult) time
– Saturday (september): weekly racing
– Sunday (6 – 8 pm): open free time
Membership
Participants of Centre programs (Wheelies, Sprockids, Peter Wedge) automatically get a membership access to the BMX track. Other cyclists can purchase a yearly membership for 40$. For new cyclists, we will hold an open period on Sunday evenings (6 to 8 pm) to come and try the track free of charge. We will have instructors on site as well as BMX bikes to try out.
Equipment
A BMX is the base of the sport, although we’ll be accepting mountain bikes on a limited basis. Bikes must be in good working order and free of any dangerous items such as foot pegs and kick stands. In terms of protective gears, a full face helmet is required, long sleeve shit and pants, full gloves and shoes are also mandatory in this sport.
