Di Luca Excluded from UCI ProTour Rankings

October 18, 2007 – The UCI has ruled that the Italian rider, Danilo Di Luca (Ita) Liquigas, who was leading the UCI ProTour before this ruling was made, will be excluded from the UCI ProTour ranking in accordance to the article 1.2.133.1 of the UCI regulations.

The UCI made its decision based on CONI’s (Italian Olympic Committee) suspension of Di Luca starting on October 16, 2007, because of his association with the controversial doctor Carlos Santuccione, who is involved in the “Oil For Drugs” case, a four-year-old doping probe, involving several Italian athletes and doctors.
