November 22, 2006 – According to a report in the Journal de Quebec, David Veilleux (Louis-Garneau/Optik), the promising 19-year-old cyclist from near Quebec City, will likely ride for the US-based Jittery Joe’s team in 2007.

An official news announcement is expected soon, but according to the article Veilleux isn’t revealing his cards. “I prefer to make no comment on this subject for now. Maybe I can answer more questions in a few weeks,” was all Veilleux responded by telephone.

It was Veilleux’s present team owner, Louis Garneau, who leaked the news. “He is about to make an agreement with an American team, but things have not yet been finalized. This should be all wrapped up soon. It is clear that he will basically not ride in Quebec this (coming) summer,” said Garneau.

Garneau apparently is not opposed to Veilleux’s move south: “It was me who pushed him toward the USA. There’s no doubt that this will be good for his development,” explained Garneau.

Garneau also suggested that the Bouygues Telecom in Europe might be in the future for Veilleux.
