“2013 contract signed, leaving soon for Italy, motivation is back = Life is good !!! Time to win some bike races now,” wrote Boily on Facebook without specifying the name of his new team. Pedal readers will remember that last month it looked like Italian-based Cannondale Pro Cycling would sign him for this year, but that deal fell through for reasons that remain unclear. His former teammate, Guillaume Boivin, is riding this season with Cannondale Pro Cycling, a UCI WorldTour team.
“As for the team, I can’t yet reveal [the name] but all bets are on,” continued Boily in French with his Facebook comments. If he is riding for a WorldTour team based in Italy, this could be either Cannondale or Lampre-Merida. Or perhaps the reference to Italy simply indicates where the team’s training camp will be held. And there are also many professional teams in Italy which do not have WorldTour status…
Boily, who turns 23 this April, rode with SpiderTech from 2010-2012. He notably was the U23 Canadian road vice-champion and ITT vice-champion in 2012. In 2011, he wore the yellow jersey for four days at the Tour de l´Avenir stage race in France. Boily – who also rides track – was the junior Canadian Madison champion and the points race champion in 2008.
