Cyclocross Nationals 2003

October 23, 2003 – The following is the details of this year's National Cyclo-Cross Champinoships, to be held Sunday, November 9, 2003 at Jericho Park, Vancouver BC.

Course Description: The course is a 2.6km loop in one of Vancouver's nicest parks, Jericho Park, on the waterfront in Kitsilano. The course includes pavement, bark mulch and hard packed gravel trail. It includes 2 short steep climbs and one double set of barriers. It promises to be a true Belgian style event. Jericho Park is located around the 4000 block of W. 4th Ave. Parking is available along W.4th Ave. which borders the south side of the race course and along NW Marine Dr. on the west side of the course. The sign on area will be just off this road inside the park.

Registration: Online registration is through www.karelo.com until Nov.7th. Categories/Race Times: · 9am – Junior Men (40 minutes) · 10am – Master Men A,B,C,D (40 minutes) · 11am – Elite, Master & Junior Women (40 minutes) · 12pm – Elite, Espoir Men (60 minutes) Categories for Nationals are as follows based on a rider's age on December 31, 2003. Men Elite: 23 years and above Espoir: 19 to 22 years old, a rider of this age belonging to a trade team shall be qualified as elite. Juniors: 17 and 18 year olds. Masters: 30 and above who elect this status. · Masters A: 30-39 · Masters B: 40-49 · Masters C: 50-59 · Masters D: 60 plus Women Elite: 19 years and above Junior: 17 and 18 year olds Master: 30 years and above who elect this status Race

Start: Riders must report to staging no less than 15 minutes before posted start time for roll call and staging. Racers will be seeded. Mechanical Support: Two service pits are located along the course. Pit A is located at the top of the first time and is for wheels only. Pit B is located after the barriers at the north end of the course and is for bikes only.

Commissaire College: Wayne Pomario, BC (UCI) – Chief Commissaire Sandy Harrison, BC – Assistant Commissaire Mike Shea, BC – Assistant Commissaire

Licenses: CCA/UCI license necessary. Road and Mountain Bike category designations will both be accepted. Cyclocross bikes must meet UCI regulations as per 2003 CCA regulations.

A room with 2 double beds for one or two people is $60 a night plus taxes.
