November 7, 2004 – Come out to the first cyclocross race in Beban Park, Naniamo, on November 13th. Learn-to-cross clinic also available featuring National Champion Wendy Simms.
This is a Club race, open to licenced Cycling BC members. Club memberships will be available onsite for a small fee. This race is definitely casual, with a distinct competitive flavour. The start and registration area will be at Grandview Bowl at Beban Park. You can find maps to the track under www.nanaimobmx.com. Click on ‘information,’ then ‘maps.’ Look for the the dog park!
Mountainbikes are welcome in both races.
-2:30pm Learn to Cross Clinic, featuring National Champion, Wendy Simms. Wendy will take all participants out for a lap of the course, explaining various sections of the course, what to expect and what to do in race situations.
Note: There is nothing on this course that would instanty put fear into anyone that is somewhat competent on their bike. This pre-ride/clinic is designed to make the beginning racer feel comfortable.
-3:00 Novice Race: This race is open to 1st timers only. Mountainbikes or cross bikes are welcome. The race will be 30 minutes of fun. Some cool prizes and good times gaurnateed.
– 3:30 Race: This race is for anyone that has raced Cyclocross before or wants a more competitive/longer race than the earlier beginner event. The Race will be about 45-50 minutes for the winner. We will finish before sundown.
Volunteers: We will need about 10 volunteers for the course. If you can help out for 1hr and 15 minutes or a portion of please let me know.
