December 1, 2007 – An American producer is looking for cyclists and actors to feature in the upcoming movie, MAXVO2. We contacted Scotty Curlee of Red Cloud Productions who explained that his crew is looking for both pro and amateur riders in both road and MTB disciplines for filming in Virginia and North Carolina to start in April, 2008. Curlee mentions that he requires up to 240 athletes and has some speaking roles available. Riders that must look authentic and be able to pass as elite level/calibre cyclists. He stresses the need for authenticity, hence the need for real cyclists. Curlee did not answer our questions about remuneration.
The MAXVO2 website explains that the movie is about, “the riveting action packed drama that takes you inside the never before seen world of elite bicycle racing.”
“Reeling with grief in the wake of a tragic automobile accident, retired veteran cyclist, Chris Carmik, is given an opportunity he doesn’t want, to train a rookie cycling prodigy. Preoccupied with battling his own inner demons, Chris reluctantly acclimates the prodigy, named Jake, to the fast-paced world of bicycle racing.”
“Using cutting edge technology and scientific training methods, Chris transforms Jake into a top contending cyclist; however, he struggles to teach Jake the most important lesson prominent in all champions – finding the true potential inside.”
