Cycling Canada and US Cycling to Launch Unified Licencing System

by pedalmag.com

April 01, 2019 (Victoria, BC) – Cycling Canada and US Cycling are set to launch a unified licencing system as early as this year if things go as planned. With Canadians recently swarming the podium at the US Cup in California, and American riders on the podium at the Canada MTB Cup at Bear Mountain, officials in both camps confirmed that the new system is underway.

“We’ve been talking about it for about two years and it just makes sense to unify our programs for a one-licence system,” said Josh Peacock, Events Manager at Cycling Canada. “The athletes love it as well and with so many podiums on both sides of the border by visiting riders it came together pretty quickly.”

A new logo is in the works as well but officials were tight-lipped about how that will play out… it may come down to how many podiums each nation has scored in their rival country to decide – if so Canada should come out on top.

“Technology is in our favour on this one,” added Peacock. “And it unifies both countries as well on the world circuit making for a stronger presence around the globe for North American riders.”

Official announcements are around the corner we’re told.  “Hey Americans love maple syrup,” quipped Peacock.

North America is more than Canada and the US and in fact it’s 23 countries around Mexico and the Caribbean Interesting idea as long as we keep the maple leaf emblem on part of it.
