Cycling BC Winter Youth Camp – Day 1

release by Cycling BC

December 27, 2010 (Burnaby, BC) – A double session day greeted 30 young BC riders for the second annual Cycling BC Winter Youth Camp in Burnaby, BC. Young riders from 10 to 17 years-old came from as far away as Courtney to take part in the camp. The morning session consisted of a cold but dry road skills session for half the group, with the other half heading up Burnaby Mountain for a tough hill climb interval session.

The afternoon session moved indoors to the Burnaby Velodrome for an introductory track session for riders new to the track, and an in-class goal setting session for the second group. A special thanks to local coaches Kelyn Akuna and Jon Cheung for running sessions on the day.

The riders were able to witness the final touches being done and the arrival of some of the world’s best track racers for the upcoming Saputo Burnaby 4 Day which is set to start on the evening of December 27th.

Day 2 of the camp will include more velodrome riding for the whole group, a core stability session, and another in-class session with some very special surprise guests…
