December 21, 2007 – Cycling BC’s plans for the implementation of its High Performance Teams have just been released, to share their long-term plan and encourage people to get involved. High Performance Director and Provincial Head Coach Richard Wooles has created this strategy with input from many sources. It is the first step to creating a pathway for BC’s young, talented riders to reach their goals of World and Olympic success. We hope to show that cycling can be a viable career, and to motivate them to fulfill their potential.
The first stage of the strategy, the Junior Development Team, is already underway with a team selected from last year’s results. A Youth Team has also been started, with the first camp in early 2008. Further Teams, including the Espoir Performance Team and the Elite Team, will be initiated in the years to come, as funding is raised.
