Cycling BC Awarded with a TELUS Vancouver Community Board Grant to Support Youth Cycling in BC

May 07, 2013   (Vancouver, BC) – Thanks to a grant from the TELUS Vancouver Community Board, youth aged 6-16 in the Greater Vancouver Area and the Tri-Cities will participate in Cycling BC’s Bike Start Program – Let’s Learn, Let’s Ride, Let’s Race.

This program will teach safe riding etiquette and core bike skills: braking, straight line riding, tight turning, gearing & cadence, cornering, front wheel lifting, ducking, picking up and dropping off, mounts and dismounts, bumping and buzzing.

We would like to invite you to the British Properties 1st session of the Bike Start Program on Thursday, May 9th at 3:30 pm, where Trevor Linden will present Cycling BC with the TELUS Vancouver Community Board Grant.

Trevor Linden has been active in supporting charities since he arrived in Vancouver in 1988 and has received many awards since then. He launched the Trevor Linden Foundation in 1997 which supports groups that are engaged in youth development programs.

He sits on the TELUS Vancouver Community Board that supports youth projects in the areas of arts, culture, education, sport and health.  As well he is the President of the Trevor Linden Foundation that believes in engaging youth in development programs that support the values of hard work and leadership.

Cycling BC would like to thank the TELUS Vancouver Community Board for their generous donation in support of Cycling BC’s 2013 Bike Start Program in the Greater Vancouver and Tri Cities areas.

With the support of communities and enthusiastic supporters, Cycling BC hopes to grow youth cycling in the province of BC.
