April 01, 2013 (Chambly, QC) – Cycles Performance celebrated its new store in Chambly with a pre-opening event on March 28 as owners, Melissa and Claude Bernier, a daughter and father team (interviews below), greeted and hosted about 60 attendees. Chambly is a city of 26,000 inhabitants about 25km southeast of Montreal and the new store officially opened Friday, March 29.

Cycles Performance, with two retail locations – Chambly and Saint-Basile-le-Grand – moved their Chambly operation to larger premises (4,500 square foot) to expand their offerings. Long known for its road bikes, they now also carry BMX, hybrids, kids’ bikes, mountain bikes, triathlon bikes, and women’s bikes.

“We now have a full selection [of bikes] from beginner to expert,” says Claude. He points out that major brands carried are Cervélo, Devinci, Giant, and Scott as well as Look, Marinoni, Santa Cruz, and Xprezo. The new store also carries a vast selection of “soft products” (accessories) and boasts a service department where the head mechanic has 20 years experience.

“We are very excited, (my dad and I) worked very hard to make this project happen,” says Melissa. “It’s a family project. A year ago we took the opportunity and we bought the two stores together. We’re very excited for the opening [of the expanded Chambly store this Friday].” She expects things to be “crazy, crazy” this summer at the store, especially given its location at a very “busy” corner in proximity to the popular Chambly Canal bike path. When she has spare time, Melissa likes to ride her Scott road bike on local bike paths.
