The CMWC has been in existence since 1993 and is coming to Canada for the first time since the 1995 CMWC in Toronto. Originally created by messengers in Berlin, the CMWC strives to bring together bike messengers from all over the world for a celebration of messenger racing and culture. Artworks, films, fashion, and of course competitions that will include sprints, a cargo bike race, track bike races and of course the grueling main race, where messengers will be celebrating together here in the “City of Champions”!

This year’s CMWC is dedicated to those of our comrades in the global messenger community who have been killed while working as messengers, in particular Samuel Barbetta (USA) and Sebastian Lukomski (UK) who we lost just this year. Proceeds from CMWC 2004 will be donated to the Bicycle Messenger Emergency Fund, a Florida-based charity that provides assistance to messengers who have been injured at work.

CMWC 2004 has been made possible by generous grants and sponsorship from the City of Edmonton, Chrome Bags, Kryptonite Locks, Alleykat Brewery, Hypnotic Designs, Under the Weather, Hard Core Messengers, Oh Canada Gear, Dial Printing, Corporate Copy, and Royal Rubber. This year’s CMWC is being presented by the Associated Cycle Messengers of Edmonton (ACME), a registered non-profit society who seek to promote cycling awareness throughout Edmonton as well as promote the great city we live in.
